North Bay Island
The classic Port Blair half-day. Calm shallow reef, Reef Looker semi-submarine, sea walk, snorkel. Paired with Ross Island heritage on one ferry circuit. Activities close 3:30 PM sharp β morning only.
When you arrive in the Andaman Islands, what will you actually do? This is the complete guide β every water-activity destination, every experience, every island that's worth your time, written by the operators who run them.
The Andamans sit at the edge of the Indian Ocean. Soft white-sand beaches, calm-water lagoons, dense coral shelves, jungle-reclaimed colonial ruins, and dive sites that the rest of the world hasn't reached yet β all spread across a string of islands you reach by boat from Port Blair. This page walks you through where to go, what's at each place, and how to put it together into a day or a week.
We're Andaman Escapades β local, family-owned, 17+ years in the water. Five Reef Looker semi-submarines we own, two Wave Rider catamarans, the Sealink Dive Center at Havelock main market. Where we don't operate directly β at Neil, Chidiyatapu, the dinner cruises, game fishing, biolum kayaking β we coordinate through trusted partner operators. One contact, one accountable team, all the experiences in one place.

The most accessible water-activities landing in the Andamans β 30 minutes by boat from Port Blair Aberdeen Jetty. Calm shallow water, dense coral patches near the surface, and the easiest combo day in the islands: stack four to five activities here without leaving the island. AEPL operates one Reef Looker semi-submarine on-site at North Bay. North Bay is also the only Andaman destination with concentrated partner power watersports β jet ski, banana boat, parasailing β all at the same lagoon. Scuba diving at North Bay is offered through AEPL's affiliated dive shops based in the Port Blair area. The standard Port Blair day combines Ross Island (heritage) with North Bay (water activities) on a single ferry circuit from Aberdeen Jetty.
Havelock's premium water-activities landing β home to the largest concentration of our Reef Looker fleet (four of five vessels operate here) and the reef shelf often called the best in the Andamans (15β20 m visibility on calm days, large brain corals, dense fish populations). Reachable only by boat from Havelock Jetty (15 minutes) β no road access. Elephant Beach is a key dive site reached via Sealink Dive Center's Wave Rider Pro boat dives (Sealink itself is based at Havelock main market, not at Elephant Beach). Every major water activity except kayaking and power watersports operates here.
Activities available at Elephant BeachBeyond Elephant Beach, Havelock's reputation as India's diving capital is built on its open-sea boat-dive sites β The Wall, Dixon's Pinnacle, Pilot Reef, The Aquarium, Lighthouse, Johnny's Gorge, Minerva's Delight. All these sites are reached via Wave Rider Pro (AEPL's owned dive catamaran) departing from Sealink Dive Center, located in Havelock main market. Sites are 18β30 m deep and require Open Water certification. Pelagic encounters include reef sharks, mantas (seasonal), schools of jacks and barracuda, and turtles year-round. Sealink offers a full range of scuba products from this single Havelock market base β shore dive, boat dive, early-morning dive, day-long dive + snorkel + Elephant Beach excursion combo, and the evening sunset cruise.
Activities available at Havelock Open-Sea Dive SitesNeil Island (officially Shaheed Dweep) offers the calmest, least-crowded water experiences in the Andamans. Smaller crowds, gentler water, slower pace β ideal for nervous first-timers, families with small children, and elderly guests. Bharatpur Beach is the marquee snorkel site (shallow, no current, beginner-friendly with lifejacket) and Bharatpur lagoon offers the most beginner-friendly kayaking water in the Andamans. Glass-bottom boat operates here. Scuba diving at Neil is offered through AEPL's affiliated dive shops based on the island β calm-water sites suitable for DSD beginners and certified divers alike. Reef Looker semi-submarine and sea walking are NOT available at Neil β those are at North Bay (Port Blair) and Elephant Beach (Havelock) only.
Activities available at Neil IslandInside Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park β a 40-year-protected reef sector with the densest coral in the Andamans. Permit-controlled at 388 passengers/day, first-come-first-serve, βΉ850 + βΉ50 permit, Aadhaar-based registration. Closed during monsoon (JunβSep). AEPL operates the Wave Rider Jolly Buoy day trip from Wandoor Jetty β the only seamless way to combine catamaran transit, Marine Park permit, glass-bottom boat reef-viewing and semi-submarine all in one ticket.
Wandoor is the gateway to Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park β a small coastal village south-west of Port Blair where the Wave Rider catamarans dock for Jolly Buoy departures. Beyond its role as the Jolly Buoy jetty, Wandoor hosts AEPL's Wave Rider Sunset Cruise β a 2.5-hour evening cruise on Wave Rider Pro in the protected Wandoor sector with golden-hour light, calm sea, refreshments. Charter services also operate from here for custom day cruises.
Activities available at WandoorChidiyatapu is the southernmost point of South Andaman β famous for its sunset point and white-bellied sea eagle population. Munda Pahad beach offers a quieter snorkelling site away from the North Bay/Elephant Beach crowds, with open-sea reef shelf and clean visibility. Scuba diving at Chidiyatapu is offered through AEPL's affiliated dive shops running boat dives in this sector. Some bioluminescent kayaking partners also run sessions from Chidiyatapu's protected creeks during dark-moon windows. Excellent for half-day combinations with Port Blair sightseeing.
Activities available at ChidiyatapuPort Blair city has its own portfolio of water experiences β the Flat Bay creek mangrove kayak (the most accessible mangrove paddle in the Andamans, no ferry required), the TSG Bella Bay Dinner Cruise from Marina Park area (partner-operated evening cruise with dinner), and charter services for private yachts and game-fishing departures. The city water option is ideal for guests on shorter trips, those without time to ferry to Havelock or Neil, or as the evening complement to a North Bay or Wandoor day.
Activities available at Port Blair City WaterRoss Island (officially Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Dweep) is the heritage half of the classic Port Blair half-day. 2 km off Port Blair's coast, 30 min boat ride from Aberdeen Jetty. Once the British administrative capital of the Andamans β nicknamed the "Paris of the East" before WWII destruction left it in ruins. Today you walk through jungle-reclaimed British-era ruins: the Chief Commissioner's residence, Anglican church, bakery, swimming pool, troops barracks, cemetery. The Light and Sound show narrates its history. Wildlife: spotted deer, peacocks, monkeys. Ross has no in-water activities β the value here is heritage walk, photography and the natural 90-minute stop on the standard Aberdeen β Ross β North Bay ferry circuit.
